Artichokes contain inulin, sugar, tanning substances, the enzymes inulinase, invertase and lab enzyme, furthermore a high content of potassium, calcium, magnesium and above all manganese.
The medical importance of the artichoke is already rather old. The following effects of the artichoke are known:

stimulation of the gall formation in the liver cells

stimulation of the distribution of the bile out of the gall bladder in the small intestine

especially important for the fat digestion

influencing of the cholesterol level.
Each dragee contains 300 mg of artichoke leaves extract 5.8-7.5:1.
