Happy berries - A dried and very healthy alternative of nibbling.
Goji – also known as Lycium barbarum - is a solanaceous herb (Solanaceae). It belongs to the type of Lycium. This plant is a neophylit and is also named Chinese wolf berry. It is used as an ornamental plant and is a part of the Chinese cuisine.
In Central Asia, the Goji Berry, also known as the “happy berry”, is held in such esteem that the people there celebrate several festivals each year in honour of this berry. The Goji Berry is so revered because the fruit is thought to increase longevity and well-being. In Tibet, the Goji Berry is considered to be an “anti-aging berry” for beauty, and youth, energy, power and patience. In the Chinese tradition, Goji berries are used to counteract a chi deficit. Thus, modern science is naturally very interested in identifying the active ingredients in the Goji Berry.
In the high altitude, sunny province of Ningxia , the Goji Berries grow in the wild under natural conditions. This results in a high proportion of active ingredients in the plant. The berries are gently dried in a moderately warm sun (between 22 and 32°C) so that the berries are practically unprocessed. Add this product to your muesli or pastries or soup every day or eat the healthy Goji berries as a snack.
