The Sango coral grows in the waters off the Japanese island of Okinawa. This plant drops off bits of its coral that land on the ocean floor as fossil remains that are rich in calcium. Thus, one does not have to destroy any living corals in order to benefi t from the Sango coral. In order to protect the coral reefs, only the fossilized coral reefs of Okinawa or the sediments that have landed on the ocean floor are carefully retrieved for use in our coral calcium.
Calcium is a mineral that accounts for 1.5% to 2% of a person’s weight. More than 99% of the calcium in the body can be found in a person’s skeleton. Together with phosphate, calcium is responsible for the inorganic components of the bones, as well as the teeth. The human skeleton continues to grow from birth until a person reaches adulthood. Until a person is about 30 years old, his skeleton continues to increase in strength. When a person is about 35 years of age, his skeleton has reached its maximum bone density. After that point, the bones start to get weaker. Especially when a woman enters menopause, a woman’s bone density is infl uenced by her hormones, her physicial activity and her nutrition.
Almost all of the foods that humans eat are acidic. Thus, if people eat unbalanced diets, they might suffer from acidosity. An acid organism is without elan. There are few foods that are alkaline and can thus function as neutralisers in the acid base balance. Coral calcium is alkaline.
